Government Agencies Should Act As A Catalyst In
Assisting EntrepreneursKUALA LUMPUR, March 13 (Bernama) -- Government agencies must act as a catalyst in assisting entrepreneurs and not be a hindrance to their sustained development and survival in the business world, said the Islamic Chamber of Commerce Malaysia (DPIM).
Its president, Tengku Tan Sri Ahmad Rithauddeen Tengku Ismail said, among the projects with big potential for DPIM members is beverage manufacturing in 'self-heating cans' or 'hot can' for the global market and agricultural projects, that is the supply of dairy milk.
"The obstacles that have been identified are the provision of loans for manufacturing projects and beverage supply. Though having the potential for large profits, the loans are rejected without much consideration," he said in a statement here today.
Tengku Ahmad Rithauddeen also said the projects which received overseas orders had to delay the export of goods as the application to the agencies concerned had been rejected.
Other than that, he said, there was a lack of infrastructure in the agriculture sector such as the availability of suitable "tankers" from concerned agencies, resulting in a high rate of milk having to be thrown away as it was spoilt.
This caused the entrepreneurs to suffer heavy losses, he added.
Tengku Ahmad Rithauddeen called on the government agencies involved in implementing strategies to be more caring and sincere in supporting entrepreneurs who now faced problems in expanding their business.
He said the DPIM fully supports the steps taken by the government in its efforts to encourage the growth of the country's economy.
